Mercantilism Essay
For the first assignment in APUSH, we were assigned to write an essay on the economic theory of mercantilism, which was what the early American colonies were based upon, while governed overseas by England. During this time, England issued the Navigation Acts, which were laws that prevented colonial trade with other powers in the Atlantic or Caribbean, other than England and the British West Indies. This essay details the reason as to how mercantilism impacted the colonies economically, and how it contributed to growing American dissent towards the British, which in turn, contributed to the outbreak of the American Revolution.
Townshend Acts Video Project - Sugar Act of 1764
This project was created by Kevin Rincon Acosta, who I worked on the video with. This video portrays the consequences of American traders and sailors whose boats would be searched by the British for smuggled goods. When goods were found, the traders would be sent to be heard in a vice admiralty court, and most of the time, said "smugglers" were almost always found guilty due to the writs of assistance, which permitted British officials to board ships and inspect its cargo contents. APUSH Big History Reflective Project - 5 Fascinating Things
For my final project in APUSH, we had to create a reflective powerpoint on five themes that fascinated us during the year. I was particularly interested in these five topics:
1) English Colonies
2) Declaration of Independence
3) Industrial Revolution
4) 1920s Era
5) World War II
